My best friend is coming for a visit

 

My mood today is anticipatory. I just found out that my best friend is coming to visit. She lives in Pennsylvania, which is luckily not a state on the quarantine list. As you may have guessed, I live on Staten Island, on the outskirts of New York City.


I haven’t seen my best friend since before the pandemic started, and the last time she visited was in February. We have been best friends since grade school, and she only moved away about five years ago. I can't believe it has already been five years since she moved.


She moved because she wanted to live in a place with cleaner air, better schools, and just a better life for her and her kids. She is still married, unlike myself, to a clean cut guy who loves her dearly. They have four kids, and they will all be coming along, too.


It is going to be a truly crazy house for two weeks! It's quite alright, though. My kids adore her kids, especially my two boys. I have also heard whispers that one of my boys has a crush on her younger daughter, who is around three years younger than him. That makes it unfortunate that she lives so far away, but he is too young to date anyway.


She and I grew up together, and while most of our other friends moved far away, she only lives two hours away. I can hardly wait to see her again, and am super excited that she is coming back to her childhood hometown.

My mood today is frazzled and stressed. I had to get the kids to their kickboxing and karate practices, and with two boys and a girl, that can be easier said than done. They weren't satisfied with the sandwiches I made for them, and they wanted extra juice boxes to share with their friends. When it was all said and done, I had made them each two sandwiches with bologna and Swiss, tossed in some fruit snacks, and an extra juice box each. But that wasn't the worst of it. This other mom wanted to have some kind of issue with me, and I couldn’t quite figure out what her problem was. She was yelling that I cut her off, but it was in the parking lot. I didn’t steal her space, and I used my blinker even. I think she was just in a bad mood, looking for someone to take it out on. To top it all off, I almost got into a fender bender on the way home. My Mood Today Is Frustrated

My mood today is frustrated. While you may be saying, hey, wait, that's the same as frazzled and stressed, it isn’t really. I am frustrated with some of the things that have been going on around here. First, my kids have been super unhelpful lately. I asked them to help me make dinner last night, and it was a total disaster. Second, I haven’t been able to get my hair done properly in quite some time, as my hair salon is not yet open, and my hair dresser friend hasn’t had time for me to trade with her. Finally, I haven’t been able to go to the gym at all in much too long. This has led to my current mood, of frustration. Last time I posted, my kids were in school. Now it is summer, but they were off from school for quite a while. That can really make you want to pull your hair out.
